"New figures reveal 630,000 Australian males may face double the average risk of prostate cancer, prompting Australia’s peak body to call for greater awareness of the disease" [Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia - media release August 2022].
There's no doubt prostate cancer is a major illness affecting many Australians every year. So it was gratifying we recently had an opportunity to work with The Hallway Agency to produce a series of training modules designed to teach HCP and Nuclear Pharmacy staff how to use a newly developed kit for the preparation of gallium-68 (68Ga) gozetotide (also known as PSMA-11) injection.
This kit is used for imaging prostate cancer with positron emission tomography (PET) and targets prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). It's an advanced technology that has the potential of saving many lives. Surefire Media spent time in Melbourne filming expert radiology pharmacists and lab technicians preparing the kits in a complex step-by-step process, an extremely involved procedure that required precise direction and surefire project management to get the story right. Mission accomplished!
The training modules are now being rolled out across Australia and the United States. Another positive step in the fight against prostate cancer.
