Difficult and stressful times

There’s a media industry joke doing the rounds, particularly amongst post-production folk. Q: what’s the difference between a video editor in self-isolation and a video editor not in self-isolation? A: Nothing

Video editors (and let’s face it, most people in the post-production industry) seem to live a life of self-isolation in any case.

But all jokes aside, it’s clear these are extremely difficult and stressful times for those of us who rely on a healthy Media and Advertising industry.

As the Coronavirus outbreak shatters our normal work-life and upends production schedules, post-production pipelines, and media marketing plans, we’re facing a stormy and bleak year ahead.

With so much uncertainty, it’s easy to feel that maybe now is the time to ‘chuck it all in’ and head for the hills. But that’s not really the answer. In fact, now more than ever, this is a time for clear and concise media messaging.

That’s why Surefire has been working closely with our clients to ensure they are getting the right messages out to their internal and external stakeholders. Now is the time for business leaders to speak directly and clearly to their staff and collaboration partners about work expectations, health and well-being, staff support and work directives.

At Surefire we’re keeping our media production engine running as best as we can, albeit working safely with all the proper precautions in place.

While it has been difficult and stressful for our team, we’re committed to helping our clients communicate the important messages that we all need to hear… don’t stress, stay safe, keep well, look out for each other.

If you or someone you know is feeling overwhelmed by the current Coronavirus situation, Surefire Media recommends the following support services:

Confidential information, counselling and support service open 24 hours to support people impacted by sexual assault, domestic or family violence and abuse.

Information on symptoms, treatment and prevention of depression and bipolar disorder.

Short-term counselling and emotional and psychological support services for carers and their families in each state and territory.
